Leading Shropshire shipping company, Global Freight, clinched contracts worth more than £150,000 after exhibiting at a recent Shropshire Chamber of Commerce’s event.
The Halesfield-based company is now to be the headline sponsor of the organisation’s next Expo in March following its business wins and is urging other companies to support the day-long exhibition.
Managing director Nicole Howarth said: “Global Freight is a patron of Shropshire Chamber and we are delighted to be backing what is one of the biggest business events in the county.
“Expo is vital for networking and introducing your company to prospective clients, and we were delighted at the response to our presence at the previous Expo event.
“It resulted in contracts worth £150,000 a year to Global Freight, helping us to achieve another record-breaking year for sales. ”
Nicole said many SMEs, which make up more than 90 per cent of Shropshire economy landscape, wanted to import and export but did not have the procedures or knowledge in-house to trade overseas.
”Britain should be looking to trade its way out of this economic slump and importing and exporting is an important driver of the UK economy. Unfortunately, many small businesses are put off from seeking routes to market abroad.
“What Global Freight clearly demonstrated at Expo, and does on a daily basis, is show that we can take the fear out of international shipping and give companies the confidence to trade overseas.”
As headline sponsor of Expo on March 17, being held at the White House Hotel in Wellington, Global Freight is urging companies to attend the event and see what opportunities can be created.
“Local businesses working together will also create a strong Shropshire economy. We’re always delighted to win business in the county and take great pride in assisting those companies looking to expand through overseas trade. We work very closely with UKTI, and would be pleased to meet up with any companies on March 17 which are looking to ship internationally.”
Richard Sheehan, managing director of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, said he was delighted Chamber patron Global Freight was sponsoring the Expo.
“Shropshire businesses recognise the value of being pro-active and the range of opportunities that Expo presents. These events bring together like-minded business people to network and we’re delighted that Global Freight saw such a return on its investment and sees fit to support the Expo in 2011.”
Experts in export, import and cross trade delivery, contracting and packaging by air, sea or road, award-winning Global Freight can also provide extensive guidance and advice on the new Incoterms – rules introduced at the beginning of the year governing the shipping of goods worldwide.
