Global Freight-backed motorcycle racing champion Michael Rutter is chasing his ninth victory this weekend at Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.
Rutter is back on Robin Croft’s SMT Honda for the 60th anniversary event, which he rode to an unprecedented eighth victory at Macau last November.
The British Superbike veteran’s opposition includes Isle of Man TT star John McGuinness on the Honda Legends Fireblade, plus Jessopp on the Riders BMW, who has finished as the runner-up for the past two seasons at Macau.
Rutter has claimed a record breaking eight wins on what is regarded as the World’s most challenging street circuit. Comprising of 6.2 kilometers worth of tight corners and fast straights, Rutter returns once again with SMT Racing and hopes that they can repeat their success of the previous year.
This years event see’s an impressive entry list of riders from 11 different countries, including some new names.
Rutter commented: It’s great to be back in Macau again, we always come here with the aim of getting on the podium, if we can take a win that would be great. There’s some new decent riders out there on some decent machines but we did a good job last year with Robin’s bike so we’ll see what we can do again this year.”
