Shipping boss welcomes Export Growth Plans

Global Freight’s managing director Anton Gunter has welcomed a new package of measures to support businesses with their future export plans.

The Export Growth Plan announced by the government includes 22 new International Trade Advisers (ITAs) who will provide direct support to small businesses in the Midlands Engine.

A pilot Export Academy will be established to support smaller businesses looking to start their export journey and a £6.3m Midlands Internationalisation Fund will help businesses across the Midlands grow their international markets and boost profits.

Mr Gunter said: “This is absolutely fantastic news for businesses looking to begin their export journey and grow their business through international trade.

“The package of measures announced will provide not just funding but also expert knowledge and advice to businesses through the support of International Trade Advisers which is invaluable.

“The measures come at a crucial time for businesses with many looking to new foreign markets to help spread the risk against the UK’s economic uncertainty.”
