Anton Gunter, managing director at Global Freight Services, has welcomed plans announced in today’s Autumn Statement which will help to boost the growth of small businesses.
He said: “We very much welcome the package of measures announced in today’s budget to support business growth for SMEs and in particular the move to strengthen support for exporting.
“The opportunities for small businesses to export their products and services globally are huge whether they operate from a garden shed or multiple production sites and so anything that encourages more businesses to trade internationally has to be a good thing.
“As a nation we need to be more ambitious and making sure companies can sell their goods into global markets confidently is essential.”
SMEs across the UK support 16.7m jobs and provide billions in tax revenue.
Plans unveiled today will ensure that small businesses get paid their invoices on time, will see an expansion of the Made Smarter Adoption programme and strengthened support to help comapnies access export markets.
Mr Gunter also welcomed plans for the new West Midlands Investment Zone saying this would also put a real focus on business growth across the region.
A further two Investment Zones were also announced covering East Midlands and Greater Manchester.
Boosting jobs and supporting green industries and advanced manufacturing sectors will be the main focus of the new zones.
